Red Velvet

A KiriBaku NSFW Zine

About

Red Velvet is an NSFW film noir themed zine, taking its inspiration from movies likes “Sin City”, video games like “Blues and Bullets” and books like “Black Sad”. The zine will be on a digital and PDF format, A4-sized, featuring 60-80 pages of content from artists and writers for Boku No Hero Academia (僕ぼくのヒーローアカデミア) and pairing of Kirishima Eijirou and Bakugou Katsuki. The page estimates are dependent on the numbers of the applicants.

Artworks will feature a specific color scheme, to respect the theme of the zine. Each one of every artwork will feature a black and white gradient, with one accent of the color red.

Fics will be written in the film noir themed code. The authors won’t have to focus on the color scheme.

Ship/Characters Group

The main focus of the zine is the Kirishima/Bakugou pairing, but other characters can be accepted. We will accept a maximum of 4 more characters in artworks, and 6 more in fics.

Merch artists can only work with the characters of Kirishima Eijirou and Bakugou Katsuki.

Profit, Charity, and Proceed

This is both for-profit and charity zine, which means that half of the proceeds will be sent in a fair amount between all the mods and contributors, and the other half of the proceeds will be sent to the charity, Wires, which helps those who have been affected by the Australian wildfires.

All contributors will receive one free PDF and the digital merch of the zine, as well as their part of the proceeding.

Pre-Orders

Pre-Orders open on the July 21, 2020, and close on the August 18, 2020. These dates may change as the event progresses.

Please note that the Red Velvet team will not accept requests of refunds once the PDF and Merch have been sent out.

Pre-Orders cancellation will be accepted until one week (Aug 11, 2020 - Aug 17, 2020) before the end of the Pre-Order period.

Contributor Requirements

You can apply for multiple roles, but you will only be accepted for one role. For example, if you apply as an artist and merch artist, the Red Velvet team will only accept you as an artist or a merch artist. You cannot have multiple roles when accepted. The Red Velvet team will choose contributors by their skill level and not by their popularity (i.e follower count). Everyone has an equal chance of being accepted.

A discord account is mandatory if you wish to apply If you do not have a Discord account and are willing to create one if accepted, please mention it on the application form. If you continuously do not respond and communicate with the moderator team, you will be dropped from the zine.

Traditional art is acceptable to submit for your samples, so long as the photographs or scans are of high quality.

Emails will be sent out to applicants as the end of the application process to inform them whether they have been chosen or not to be in the zine.

Writers

Writers are required to submit 2-3 samples of their work, preferably 2k-3k words long. At least one of the samples should be about the Kirishima/Bakugou pairing so that the team can get an idea of how you portray the characters. You can submit excerpts, but at least one should be a complete standalone. Please provide a warning if you are including a sample with triggering content. 5 writers will be accepted, though this number is subject to change.

Artists

Artists are required to submit 3-4 samples of their work. At least one of the samples should include a background and the characters of Kirishima Eijirou and Bakugou Katsuki. Please provide a warning if you are including a sample with triggering content.

Artists can provide a sample with underage characters.

Because the zine is film noir themed, artists should be comfortable drawing with only a black and white gradient and one accent of color. 15 artists will be accepted, though this number is subject to change.

Merch Artists

Merch Artists are required to submit 3-4 samples of their work. At least one of their samples should be of the characters of Kirishima Eijirou and Bakugou Katsuki. Previous experience with creating merchandise is not required. You will be asked in the application form to select what merch you would be interested in creating, and if you are accepted, the mod team will then give merch assignments based on your choices. 5 artists will be accepted, though this number is subject to change.

Schedule

The schedule may change as the event progresses. The schedule is based on the CET (UTC+1) time zone. Participants may request for an extension. If you have any concerns about scheduling, please read the Schedule FAQ before reaching out to the mod team.
